About Bengaluru (Bangalore)
Bangaluru, the capital of Karnataka in southern India, is a dynamic metropolis celebrated for its scientific, technological, and educational excellence. Home to prestigious institutions like the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS), Raman Research Institute (RRI), Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), and numerous tech startups, Bangaluru is a major hub for research and innovation in India.
Within easy driving distance are the exquisite Hoysala temples of Belur, Halebidu, and Shravanabelagola—renowned for their intricate stone carvings and spiritual importance. About 140 km from Bangalore lies Mysore, a city rich in royal heritage and and close to renowed national reserved forests Bandipur and nagerhole. On the way to Mysore, Somanathapura features one of the finest preserved examples of Hoysala architecture. Other attractions in Karnataka include the ancient ruins of Hampi, the scenic Shivanasamudra Falls, Mekedatu Falls, and Hogenakkal Falls within 100 – 180kms from Bengaluru.
Together, these make Bangaluru an ideal starting point for exploring South India’s scientific and cultural treasures.
